Moscow I

I haven't posted in a while due to being busy with finishing a PhD thesis. My treat at the end was a trip to Russia, coming back briefly via Scandinavia. This is the first image from my trip, the view from the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, looking towards the Kremlin, Moscow. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix and Adobe Lightroom.

Oxford I

The main hall of the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, England. The museum is a collection of archaeological and anthropological items from Oxford University and is free to visit.

This is a three image panorama consisting of three lots of three exposure HDR images (nine images in total). Raw HDR images were processed using Photomatix and the resulting EXR files stitched with Hugin. I chose a fish eye projection as that was the least harsh on cropping. Final touch up was performed using Adobe Lightroom. Overall I'm very pleased with the clarity of this image, considering the low lighting conditions within the museum and using the kit lens. Auto bracketed images were captured at a shutter speed of 1/8, 1/13 and 1/20 second, all handheld.

Trakai VI

Late evening, looking out across a frozen lake in Trakai, Lithuania. The mist was gradually rolling in and this was the sight that greeted me as dusk was occurring. Three auto-bracketed exposures captured using a Canon EOS 500D equipped with the kit Canon EF-S 18-55 mm lens. Exposures were tonemapped using Photomatix and the resulting image was processed using Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.

Trakai V

Ice skaters in the mist. Local people ice skating on the frozen lake in front of the castle at Trakai. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix and Lightroom.

Trakai IV

The frozen lake surrounding the castle at Trakia, Lithuania. The lake was so frozen that people are able to walk across it without any problems. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.

Stamford XXI

Deer in front of Burghley House found close to Stamford in Lincolnshire, England. The house and rooms within it have been used to film scenes for Pride & Prejudice, The Da Vinci Code, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, plus others. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix and Adobe Lightroom, with final touch up being performed in GIMP.

Riga I

The light slowly fading during dusk at the Christmas market in Livu Lakumas square in Riga, Latvia. A panorama composed of four lots of three exposure HDR images (twelve total images). Images were stitched together using Hugin, tonemapped using Photomatix and final touch up in Adobe Lightroom.

Trakai III

A panoramic capture of the mist descending over the castle at Trakai, including both wooden bridges and the moon. Four lots of three exposure images (12 shots in total), merged using Hugin, tonemapped in Photomatix and final touch up in Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.

Trakai II

A rather photogenic tree found on the castle island in Trakai, Lithuania. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix and Lightroom.

Trakai I

The castle found on an island surrounded by frozen lakes in Trakia, Lithuania. The locals cleared a path on the frozen lake, however, this was more like an slippery icy walkway of death! A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix and Adobe Lightroom.
