Lake District VI

Having climbed (and descended) Catbells, in the Lake District, I stopped and had a spot of lunch near to this jetty on Derwent Water. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.

Lanzarote I

El Golfo. I was fortunate enough to be sent to Lanzarote on a conference the other week. I really wish I had a wide angle lens though. This is a three image panaorama, each shot being a three image HDR capture (ie nine images in total). Processed using Photomatix and Hugin.

The sky was fairly washed out, so I decided to 'swap' it with a sky from another image. I'm not entirely sure whether I'm happy doing this or not, since it is no longer the true original image. But then since I process things quite a lot I decided to give it a go. A little bit of information, the lake/lagoon is green due to microorganisms living in the water and the beach is black due to volcanic ash.

Nottingham XXXV

Some time back I uploaded my first dedicated night shot, tripod and all, taken on Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham (www.flickr.com/photos/pixog/6103857545/in/photostream). Here's my next favourite from that evening, finally processed to my liking. This was three long exposures taken in RAW, merged using Photomatix and touched up with Lightroom. One thing I've noticed is the amount of time it takes the 500D to write to disk long exposures in RAW, but at least I had the tripod and I could just walk around shuffling my feet as I waited.

Pressigny I

On our convoluted drive from Karlsruhe to London (as part of a larger trip) we stopped off in the small village of Pressigny, France. The B&B we stayed at (Maison Massin-Perrette) was traditional and quaint with wonderful hosts. This is the view of the lake next to where we stayed. A three exposure HDR image, processed with Photomatix and touched up in Lightroom.

Lake District V

Three exposure HDR image looking out over Lake Windermere. Maybe a little bit overprocessed, but it's the only way I could make a gloomy image pop a bit more. Plus I love vignettes.
