Antwerp I

The one hundred year old Stadsfeestzaal in Antwerp, Belgium. Destroyed by fire in 2000, the rebuilt and renovated shopping centre was reopened in 2007. Four HDR images (each comprising of three exposures) were merged using Hugin. HDR images were processed using Photomatix and the resulting image was processed using Adobe Lightroom and GIMP. There are a few stitching errors (mainly due to parallax), but I think they're subtle enough not to notice.

Ghent V

I originally uploaded a shot of the "Gerard De Duivelsteen" (a castle in Ghent) that didn't include the full reflection (here), due to not having a wide enough angle lens. Luckily I captured a few shots with a view to stitching them together to give the full view. After an eight month wait here is the finished product. Three HDR images each comprising of three exposures (nine images total) were processed using Photomatix. The resulting three HDR images were stitched together using Hugin, with final touch up being performed in Adobe Lightroom.

Brussels IV

The Finance Tower (Tour des Finances, Financietoren) is a skyscraper in the Northern Quarter central business district of Brussels, Belgium, designed by the architects Hugo Van Kuyck, Marcel Lambrichs and Léon Stynen. It is the second tallest building in Belgium, and has the most office space of any building in Belgium. A single shot taken with a Canon EOS 500D and kit 18-55mm lens, processed using Adobe Lightroom.

Ghent III

Werregarenstraat, or Graffiti Alley as it's also known as, is a pedestrianised street in Ghent where painting graffiti is legal. The alley is coated in graffiti throughout the 100+ metre length of it. Walking along you will find all sorts of artwork that is not guaranteed to last any length of time as someone may paint over it. Taken using a Canon EOS 500D, processed using Photoshop and Lightroom.

WW1 Battlefields VI

The 'preserved' trenches found at Sanctuary Wood Museum. These may, or may not be, the exact original trenches from the Frist World War, however they give a great insight to the conditions that many men spent several years living and dying in. [Taken: 9th April 2001]

WW1 Battlefields I

This is my first photo in a series this week depicting Battlefields in France and Belgium. All were taken on a school trip almost eight years ago, and all are rather amateurish (especially since being taken with a simple 35 mm disposable camera). However, I felt compelled to share them. This is Tyne Cot Cemetery in Belgium, the resting place of 11,954 soldiers, the majority of which are British. [Taken: 9th April 2001]
