Nottingham XLII

A purple 'allium hollandicum' found in a garden in Nottingham. This was taken using a sigma 70-300 mm, a lens I am still not overly enamoured with. A single exposure processed using Adobe Lightroom.

Oslo I

The unusually shaped Oslo Opera House (Operahuset). The building is designed so that members of the public can walk all over the structure and take in the views of Oslo. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Lightroom and GIMP.

Pripyat V

Another image of the abandoned ferris wheel found in the deserted city of Pripyat, near Chernobyl in Ukraine. The area is now part of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Zone of Alienation, covering around 2,600 km2. In 1986, after reactor number 4 exploded, the 50,000 residents of Pripyat were evacuated. The area was declared a nuclear disaster area and nobody was allowed to return to live due to high levels of radiation. Since then the wildlife/nature has been allowed to reclaim the city, giving eerie scenes of a Soviet city frozen in time. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix and Lightroom. Moscow IV

The main building of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Московский государственный университет имени М. В. Ломоносова). The main tower is 240 metres high with 36 floors, and is claimed to be the tallest academic institution in the world. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Lightroom and GIMP.

Moscow III

Looking across the Moskva River towards the Kremlin in Moscow. This view shows the Большой Кремлёвский дворец (Grand Kremlin Palace) alongside one of the large golden domed cathedrals. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.

Lake District VI

Having climbed (and descended) Catbells, in the Lake District, I stopped and had a spot of lunch near to this jetty on Derwent Water. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.

Nottingham XLI

A photo taken earlier in the year, when much of the UK was covered in snow. This was the scene that greeted me, not far from the lake found in the campus of Nottingham University, as the sun was setting. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Lightroom and GIMP.

Lanzarote II

The volcanic, almost Martian-like, landscape of the Timanfaya National Park found on the Spanish island of Lanzarote. A single exposure captured with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10, processed into three exposure. Processing was performed using Photomatix, Lightroom and GIMP.

Moscow II

Saint Basil's Cathedral, a Russian orthodox cathedral. During the Soviet era, the cathedral was confiscated and made into a division of the state historical museum. A three exposure HDR image processed using Photomatix, Adobe Lightroom and GIMP.
